“ My name is Elena and I love creating flowers and hair accessories inspired by Vintage fashion. Since the early years of my childhood, I have been watching and helping my mother, who was a passionate dressmaker. I started to make dresses and accessories for my dolls and very soon was making my own clothes. "

"My name is Susanne Gadegaard Nicolaisen. I am 39 years old and living in the Danish countryside, with my husband and son. I have always been a creative spirit and I´ve gone through many different medias to find the perfect way to be creative. I had a dream of becoming a fashion designer, but my life turned out differently and so now, I am a self-taught wedding accessories designer and just loving every minute of it."

"I was a very classic girl, dreaming of being a princess and drawing them over and over again. I find now, that I can make a princess tiara and so, in some way, I live the dream. I adore the Roaring Twenties and Old Hollywood Glamour, and these inspire a lot of the things I make. Also I search the internet and books for images and stories of accessories from ancient Greece and Rome, and also from the Art Nouveau period in Europe. There are countless beautiful things to be inspired by, and I always try to find a new way of working with the materials."

"Many times the process is organic, and some pieces take on a life of their own, and they become truly OOAK, as I cannot tell how they came to be:-) I seldom lack inspiration. Sometimes my biggest problem is remembering to draw or write ideas down, before they vanish again."

"Truely handmade for me, is that every step of the way is controlled by me. I draw the pattern, I embroider, I cut and form the petals of the flowers and so on. I love getting custom orders from brides, and I love to try to work "out of the box", doing things I haven´t tried before.. "

I retired from my cosmetology job of 25 years in July 2010 to further persue my creative career and open FancieStrands. "My day job, or shall I say "rotating shift" job is working as a 911 dispatcher. I love my job. I love the feeling of sitting at my desk at 3 am and hearing the police sirens, paramedics, and fireman driving through town and knowing I had at least a small part in someone's rescue. However, as you can imagine, it is a job where a love of crafting is very therapeutic on my days off."

"Since I was a little girl I have loved making things when I was happy, sad, mad, etc. The pain, the great memories, the fun times, all of these things are reflected in my style. When I lost my dad at 18 to suicide I struggled for a years trying to find a craft or hobby to release my emotions, finally I found it! Jewelry is an art where so many emotions can be reflected! From happy occasions like weddings and birthday’s to dark and mysterious pieces reflecting heartbreak and recovery, I try to replicate these emotions into my jewelry.
